Pastor Brian began a series on forgiveness Sunday. In Matthew 18, Peter asked Christ how many times he should forgive his brother. "after 7 times?" he asked. Jesus replied, "77 times". You might wonder why Jesus replied with a number instead of just saying, "never stop forgiving". True to form, Jesus always relates to others in a way they can understand. He speaks the language of whomever he's dealing with. It was Peter who needed a number and Jesus gave him one. He gave him a number so high that even a meticulous guy like Peter would be too frustrated to track.
As Brian said, sometimes we tend to think that forgiveness is just for the offender, but it's also for our benefit to forgive. Jesus' reply to Peter reminds us that we need to stop keeping score in our relationships. When we stop counting and open our hearts to forgiveness, we provide healing for the offender and experience healing for our soul.
Be sure to join us each Sunday as we continue the discussion of biblical forgiveness.
HARMONY NEWS
Project KidZone - Come see our progress!!
If you haven’t had a chance to drop by the back of the building, we
invite you to do so today. The following improvements have been
completed: New carpet, fresh paint, signage, and remodeled restrooms.
So far we have collected over $8,000 of
our $10,000 goal! Much work has been completed, but we’re not finished
yet, and we still need your help to get there. A special thanks goes
to everyone who has contributed with their financial gifts as well to
those individuals who have spent many hours of hard work and lent their
special skills to the remodeling effort!
Remember, our goal is not merely to have a nicer facility, but to
connect more families to Christ through our children’s ministry. These
cosmetic updates will go a long way in creating environments for kids.
